You’ve Prayed About Starting, Now What Do You Sell? Start With the Help People Already Ask For | Sell Services as a Christian Woman | Set Apart Startup
If you’re searching “sell services” or “what should I sell” as a Christian woman, this episode is for you. You’ve asked God whether to start, you’ve listened, and you’ve tested it. Now you’re stuck on something very practical. What do I actually sell?
A close friend once asked me to give advice to her son. It came naturally, and I never thought of it as anything out of the ordinary. That was true of most of what I did as an administrator: manuals, policies, processes, and study plans for students. I never once thought, I could offer this.
What Should I Sell? Why Christian Women Look Outward First
Most of what you find sends you looking outward. What’s trending. What’s in demand right now. What other women are doing.
I want to point you somewhere else. The services you could offer may already be in your hands.
Sell Services Starting With the Help People Already Ask You For
Last time we talked about Samuel, and how to tell whether an idea is from God or just from you. One thing worth watching for was different people asking you for help with the same thing. Today we stay right there.
Most of us call it a favor. The friend people send their emails to before they hit send. The woman who ends up running the women’s event at church, year after year. The daughter who keeps a parent’s paperwork and appointments in order. When someone thanks you, you say it was nothing. Nothing is what we call the things that come easily to us.
Before you ever sell services, someone has to need them. The people who ask you are already telling you. That’s where the services to sell usually begin.
Priscilla and Aquila: Ordinary Work and God’s Purpose (Acts 18:3)
Paul came to Corinth and met Aquila and his wife, Priscilla. They made tents, and so did he.
Acts 18:3 (KJV): “And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.”
Later, they sailed with Paul to Ephesus, where they took Apollos aside and explained God’s way to him more fully. Their trade gave them common ground with Paul. I believe God gave them that skill. Your gift can do the same, and if you’re willing, you can share your faith right alongside it.
Keep God at the Center When You Sell Your Services
Pray over your work before you name it, and again before you serve a client. Say what you mean, price fairly, keep your word, and never pressure anyone to buy. Say plainly that yours is a faith-based business. When it fits, offer to pray for a client, and ask first.
A secular business can do good work. What sets yours apart is that God sits at the center of why and how you serve.
One Step This Week: Start a List
Open the notes on your phone and start a list titled “People ask me for.” Keep it going for seven days. Each time someone asks you for help, add it. Each time someone thanks you, add what it was for. You’re not choosing yet. You’re finding out what’s already in your hands.
A question to carry: what have you been calling a favor that someone else would call real help?
Recommended for: Christian women solopreneurs in their first 0-2 years who have heard from God about starting and still can’t name what to sell; women with several skills who have never seen them as services; women who keep helping the people around them and have never thought of it as work they could offer.
Free resource: the Kingdom Clarity Checklist gives you space to pause and look at what’s competing for your attention. Keep your list beside it.
If this helped, follow Set Apart Startup and leave a review so another woman can find it.
